The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, Tech5 Clay Valentine, who died in the service of his country on March 22nd, 1945 in Luzon. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Clay was 35 years of age. He was from Kentucky.
The decorations earned by Tech5 Clay Valentine include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Silver Star, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
Clay Valentine joined the Army about 1925 at the age of 15. He was at Scofield Barracks 12/07/1941. He earned a Silver Star on Guadalcanal Jan 1943 and another at Luzon. He also earned Purple Hearts in both places and died at Belete Pass.
