The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SGT Robert Lee Bertram, RA15419493, who died in the service of his country on September 2nd, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as KIA. At the time of his death Robert was 22 years of age. He was from New Castle, Indiana. Robert's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.
The decorations earned by SGT Robert Lee Bertram include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Sgt. Bertram Rites To Be Held Saturday
Funeral Services for Sgt. Robert L. Bertram, who was killed in action in Korea, Sept. 4,1950, will be held Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Burial will be on Legion Hill in South Mound Cemetery.
The son of Mrs. Curtis Bertram, 1805 H. Ave. and the late Dr. O.D. Bertram, Sgt. Bertram, was employed at the World Bestos company prior to enlisting in the Army.
The body will arrive at the Main and Son Funeral Home Friday morning accompanied by a detail from Ft. Harrison. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Friday.
Survivors besides the mother, are one sister, Mrs. Ray (Adeline) Frost; three brother, Porter Russell, Dean and Wendell; and one niece, Mrs. Don Castor, all of New Castle.

Sergeant Bertram was killed on Barbed Wire hill when the CP was hit by an anti-tank 76mm round. He was the Communications Sergeant. The round also wounded Company Commander Sidney B Berry.
