The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Herbert L. Ellington, who died in the service of his country on May 19th, 1967 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Herbert was 20 years of age. He was from Danville, Virginia. Herbert is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 20E, Line 39.
The decorations earned by SP4 Herbert L. Ellington include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Funeral services for Specialist 4 Herbert L (Buddy) Ellington will be held at 2 p.m. at Spicegood Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harold Chilton officiating. Internment will follow with full military honors in Schoofield Cemetery, A special detachment from Fort Lee will be at graveside.Ellington, the 20 year old son of William Howard Ellington and Mrs. Clara Thurman Ellington, was killed by a sniper.
