The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Chester Blevins, RA15273366, who died in the service of his country on August 19th, 1950 in South Korea. The cause of death was listed as MIA to KIA. At the time of his death Chester was 20 years of age. He was from Goodwill, West Virginia. Chester's Military Occupation Specialty was 4745-Light Weapons Infantryman.

The decorations earned by PFC Chester Blevins include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Korea Service Medal, and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Corporal Blevins was a member of Able Company, 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on August 19, 1950. Corporal Blevins was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.

Chester is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bluewell, WV

PFC CHESTER BLEVINS in 1949, took his Basic Training with the First Platoon, "A" Company, 36th Armred Infantry Battalion, 3rd Armored Division, Combat Command "B", Fort Knox, Kentucky. I, SGT Andrew J. Lynch, was a member of the Fourth Platoon. Two other members of the First Platoon PVT John J. Carlisle, 9 INF RGT 2 INF DIV., was KIA on 8/31/50; CPL Chares E. Davis, 2 AR RECON CO 2 IND DIV, was KIA on 2/14/51. We all climbed "AGONY HILL" during Basic. God Bless them all!

I was Chester's squad ldr. in Korea & was wounded the same day he was killed.We had moved our placement forward in order to get a better field of fire, the Koreans hit us from ambush,I was the first one hit and therefore don't know much of what happened after that. I do know that the Plt.leader and several others were killed after they removed me from the area. Chester was a great guy. I did not know he had a twin.After being contacted recently by members of the old outfit,I dug up some pictures,Chester is in some of them. (from Floyd Sharp)
