The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Josh Peters, who died in the service of his country on May 20th, 1967 in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Josh was 22 years of age. He was from Salina, Oklahoma. Josh is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 20E, Line 66.
The decorations earned by PFC Josh Peters include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with V, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Josh was an American Indian, Cherokee, and very proud of his heritage. Josh was a graduate of Sequoyah High School, a Bureau of Indian Affairs Boarding School located at Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Josh was not with us very long but made a very positive impression on all he met. Josh was felled by a single bullet while carrying the radio for his squad leader Tom Selhime.
Josh is buried at the Euwasha Baptist Church, Salina, OK
