The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 William Douglas Wyant, who died in the service of his country on February 9th, 1968 in Quang Nam Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Mortar. At the time of his death William was 20 years of age. He was from Colona, Illinois. William is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 38E, Line 63.
The decorations earned by SP4 William Douglas Wyant include: the Combat Medical Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.
The following information supplied by William's sister,
"Doug is buried in Pollock Missouri in the Campbells cemetery. My father died on Feburary 6 and was buried next to Doug on the 9th, the same day we lost Doug."
