Seeing the Wall
I was a small girl when Robert and my sister Gail married. Later in my life, while I was attending, school, at North Georgia, College, I had heard, that they were bringing The Wall to Campus. I felt strange knowing, that his name was their somewhere. I passed the wall, for several days and then walked down, by myself and began to look. The assistant helped me, to find his name. It was a sad, but good feeling somehow. I lay a piece of paper, over his name and made, a pencil rubbing. I have this, in a photo album. Being so young, at the time they came to tell my sister, about Robert, her cry is still ingrained, in my mind. I loved Robert, as a young child and continue, to love and miss him today. He was fun. He took me, for a ride in his car. He took us, to the drive-in and he took, my sister's heart. There is more, I could say, but I will stop. He touched, many people......and I miss him......Robin, Gail's youngest sister......

This is Jewell Robert Green. We called him Robert. He lived in Blue Ridge, Georgia. He married his High School sweetheart just a few weeks before he left for Vietnam. The summer before he left, he took me and his fiancee's sister to the local county fair, also giving me money to spend. I was 13 at the time. He was 20. I look back at what he did and think how thoughtful he was. He had told several people that he didn't think he would return from Vietnam alive. He was a very happy young man, and enjoyed life. Even after 42 years, his family still misses him, his sparkling blue eyes, and his sweet smile.
