The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Steve Ronald Reiser, who died in the service of his country on January 15th, 1969 in Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Steve was 21 years of age. He was from Thedford, Nebraska. Steve is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 34W, Line 10.
The decorations earned by SP4 Steve Ronald Reiser include: the Combat Medical Badge, the Silver Star, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Who is Steve Ronald Reiser? He was a Medic Sgt E-5 for the 1st and 35th Company D of the 4th Infantry Division He was a son He was a brother He was a friend He rode Bramma Bulls in the rodeo He listened to the Grand Old Opry He was a soldier who chose to perform his patriotic duty in a war that was wrong for the love of country even though he could have taken a deferment because of his father's health He was a soldier, a Medic, a friend who would share his water, share his food, share his stories and help carry some of other soldier's weight. Doc Reiser was killed on January 15, 1969 when Company D went in to rescue a downed helicopter by hostile ground fire Doc Reiser was a man at 21 years old It is over 40 years and I still can remember his smile, his big round face and listening to the Grand Old Opry on his transistor radio You are gone my friend, but my memories of the war is your friendship, Whenever I talk of the Vietnam War it's about knowing a man named Doc Reiser. It was a waste of a precious young life, but I try my best to keep your memory alive for the next generation so that they understand the sacrifice of war. I regret that I could not tell your family their son was truly a bona fide man Who is Doc Reiser?
