From his Obituary:
A 20-year old Henderson County serviceman was killed Monday morning in Vietnam. He is the county's second Vietnam fatality.
He was PFC Charles Robert Nunn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul B Nunn of the Cash Creek section of the county. Young Nunn joined the army February 9, 1966 and went to Vietnam February 25, 1967.
The young soldier's parents have not received full details of their son's death, but they were told that he was struck by just one bullet in the action of the morning and died 45 minutes later, about the same time he arrived at a hospital.
He attended local schools including County High. Surviving besides the parents are a sister, Miss Katherine L. Nunn, at home; two brothers, Paul R in the Air Force in Florida, and Marion David of the Air Force in England; and a grandmother, Mrs. Dave Nunn of Henderson.
The first Henderson soldier to die in Vietnam was Kenneth Duncan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Duncan, 1121 Powell Street. Duncan and Nunn had been friends prior to going into the Army, Mrs. Duncan said they frequently worked together on secondhand automobiles together. Duncan died last May 17 of machine gun wounds in the legs. Nunn had paid his condolences to Mrs. Duncan last May when she received the tragic news. He was home on leave at the time.
