The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, SP4 Donald Carl Green, who died in the service of his country on May 31st, 1966 in LZ 10 Alpha,Pleiku Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Small Arms/AW. At the time of his death Donald was 27 years of age. He was from Park Rapids, Minnesota. Donald is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 07E, Line 127.
The decorations earned by SP4 Donald Carl Green include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Donald is survived by his wife, the former Carol E Mews, and their three children: Kelly age 5, Danny age 3, and Carmen age 20 months. They reside with Mrs. Green's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Mews at Clinton, MN. Also surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George B Jorgenson of Park Rapids and three brothers: Captain John Green, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii; SFC Glenn T Green, Bien Hoa, Vietnam; and Jerry Green, Great Falls, MT. Donald was born February 9, 1939 at Des Moines, IA. He lived in St Paul and moved to Park Rapids in 1949 where he attended Public School 33 and Park Rapids High School. He participated in football, wrestling, and track and won may letters and awards for his athletic accomplishments. Donald became active in the Army National Guard during his high school years and upon graduation enlisted in the Army. He served as a Military Policeman at Fort Gordan, GA; Stuggart, Germany; and White Sands Missile Range, NM before being transferred to Vietnam in January 1966. Pastor Gene Opdahl conducted the funeral services which were held on June 9 at Trinity Lutheran church, Clinton. Internment was at the cemetery in Clinton. Pallbearers were Roger Kriese, Fred Grimm, Charles Liebe, Wesley Hilmer, Herbert Pansch, and Rudy Larson. Miss Judy Steen was the organist and the soloist was Mrs. Servin Steen. The flag detail was composed of John, Glenn, and Jerry Green; brothers of the deceased; and David Mews, brother of the widow. The firing squad and the bugler consisted of Legionnaires from Clinton and Orionville. The flag was presented to Mrs. Green by SFC Glenn Green, who served as official escort of Donald's body from Vietnam. Relatives and friends attended from Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Montana, Colorado, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota.
