The 35th Infantry Regiment Association salutes our fallen brother, PFC Frederic R. DeLange, who died in the service of his country on February 12th, 1966 in Darlac Province, Vietnam. The cause of death was listed as Accidental Self-Destruction. At the time of his death Frederic was 20 years of age. He was from Lincoln Park, New Jersey. Frederic is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at Panel 05E, Line 26.

The decorations earned by PFC Frederic R. DeLange include: the Combat Infantryman Badge, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm Unit Citation.

Claims 3rd Morris Life

Lincoln Park's Pfc Frederick R De Lange, 20, of 186 Comly Road, was killed Saturday in Viet Nam when a hand grenade he was disarming exploded.

Born in New York City, he had lived in Lincoln Park since 1950, and attended St. Joseph's Parochial School and Boonton High School.

DeLange had been an alter boy at St. Joseph's Church and a Boy Scout.

De Lange worked for Welsh Farms in Caldwell and at the Green Acres Nursery before enlisting in the Army last May 17. He trained at Ft. Dix and Ft. Polk, La., before leaving for Viet Nam Dec. 24. He was with Co. B 1st Battalion, 35th Infantry , 25th Division.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Stanley De Lange DeWitt of Lincoln Park; his father, William De Lange of Hohokus, and a brother William P. De Lange of Wayne.

This is the third death in Viet Nam of a Morris man.
